Lisa Carletta

K-Nal | 18.06.09 > 29.08.09

Kai-Uwe Schulte-Bunert | 26.06.09 > 05.09.09
Filser & Gräf | Munich

EN : Kai-Uwe Schulte-Bunert works in extremely precise series that, beyond their peculiar aesthetics, have one thing in common: the memory of places. The impression that these series convey is a kind of abandonment, as if the objects, the houses and places, have forgotten the reasons for their existence. There are well-known, familiar things which we discover in these photographs. And nevertheless, although we've never, and at the same time always seen them, they operate/work in their static and function-free existence as alien, empty. In the continuous revelation of unsaid and unconsciousness lies the most intimate aspect of the work of the artist. This almost private cipher can be found in the works about apparently or actually abandoned places, which are always perceived in a moment of waiting. These places are part of his childhood, such as the villages of his Vaterland, or the building-sites of Passaggi, the border cities of 2_geteilte orte, Rimini or the landscapes of Fondo Vivo.

Les Rencontres d'Arles 2009

07.07.09 > 13.09.09

FR :

F/Stop

01.07.09 > 07>07>09 | Leipzig

EN :
3rd International Photography Festival F/Stop to take
place in Leipzig from July 1st to 7th this year. It is presented by the Center for Contemporary Photography (ZZF) which was founded back in 2006. A unique concept will lead visitors to move closer to the pulse rate of contemporary artistic photographers, coming from 16 countries. Visitors will experience a metamorphosis of curatorial exhibition concepts as well as of industrial architecture made in Leipzig. This year’s festival main show contrasts the perspectives of two generations regarding the change of lifeworlds after 89. For some Die Wende marked zero hour, a system in chaos, empty spaces offering possibilities for re-invention. Permanent transformation and acceleration are considered to be normal already by the next generation. This big group exhibit displays pieces of well renowned photographers originating in Leipzig and unites those with the work of young photographic artists. Thereby it invites to observe and break through the image, searching for confrontation with artists of the new and the middle generation, looking for a point of origin.
